Design Technology

Design and technology is an important part of a broad and balanced curriculum. It can be found in many of the objects children use each day and is part of children’s immediate experiences. It encourages children to learn to think and intervene creatively to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. We aim to ensure children are given enough opportunities to use these skills throughout the curriculum.

At St Cuthbert's we follow the KAPOW scheme of work. Although we follow a scheme, staff are still expected to plan their DT lessons. We also ensure that there is progression through the year groups. We aim to:

Mrs Graty is our DT coordinator. She will collect work from teachers termly as well as carry out scrutiny of work and planning. We aim to showcase our work to parents at times such as parent's evening and end of year events.
